Starting November 4, 2024, all Investigators required to submit a Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) disclosure—i.e., federally funded (and flow-through) research projects, including organizations that have adopted relevant PHS policies—must complete FCOI and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training before proposal submission.

Welcome to the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Our primary mission is to support and promote ethical research. As such, the ORC partners with faculty, staff, and students to ensure that research is conducted in compliance with federal regulations, state and local laws, and university policy. The ORC is the administrative home for the following committees and resources:
- Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
- Laboratory Animal Program (LAP)
- Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
- Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)
- Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) Committee
The ORC is located in Woody Hall 350 and reports through the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Research.
ORC works closely with other campus units, including:
